Tropical storm Florence is expected to plague the United States for the next two days after making landfall near Wrightsville Beach in the state of North Carolina Friday morning.
The category 4 hurricane was downgraded to category 1 before making landfall, and then weakened to a tropical storm on Friday. Reports said that at least five people, including a mother and her infant, have died in North Carolina on account to the storm.
High-speed winds were coupled with heavy rainfall and although evacuation orders were issued for nearly one million people, many chose to stay behind and posted videos of the storm’s impact in their areas.
Residents in North and South Carolina posted videos of high-rising flood waters outside their homes on social media.
The accompanying strong gusts of wind, with speeds of upto 100 mph, knocked over several trees and damaged property.
