The woman who hip-hop icon Missy Elliott has called her “funky white sister” was in for a surprise while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Catapulted to internet stardom with a karaoke version of Elliott’s Work It (below), Mary Halsey has been loving all the attention she is getting. On Tuesday, Ellen DeGeneres invited Halsey to perform on the show who had no idea what was about to happen next.
Elliott herself walked on stage to join her in a duet. Later, she tweeted about meeting Halsey, who had earlier confessed her 15-year-old love affair with the song. Halsey even got her idol’s autographed shirt and DeGeneres presented her with a “Missy’s Funky White Sister” jacket.
