This is not an easy video to watch.

It is also a tribute to the incredible courage of a dog named Nalla. When her owner, a woman living alone, was attacked by robbers, it was Nalla who came to the rescue, chasing the intruders.

She had to pay a price for her courage, however, when they shot her, the bullet going through her forelimb. The video above captures the process of surgery to save her life, which, unfortunately, meant amputating the leg.

But Nalla recovered, which was the best possible outcome.
