On August 3, a Pakistan International Airlines flight (PK 750) flying from Paris to Islamabad was delayed for an uncomfortable two hours. Amidst the growing discomfort of the passengers, the crew decided to switch off the air-conditioning. As a result, an infant became breathless and apparently lost consciousness, and the video (above) shows the plight of the mother not being allowed to leave the aircraft to help her child.
After the video went viral on social media, the Chief Executive of the airlines, Musharraf Rasool Cyan, announced a probe and released a statement on twitter to reiterate the company’s claim of having a “zero tolerance policy” on customer inconvenience and discomfort. While the passengers said the delay lasted longer than two hours, the official statement had a different version.
The airlines later issued another statement saying that the “mummy and baby from flight PK750 are doing well” along with an assurance that an enquiry is “underway”.
