Stand-up comics look like they’re having an even better time than the audience during their performance. All those jokes, the perfect timing, the deadpan delivery – it all seems like a most enjoyable way to earn a living.
Putting up a show, however, is another matter altogether, and perhaps not quite as hilarious. A recent video (above) followed up and coming comedian Aakash Mehta during his trial show tour of various cities in the country, to capture what goes on behind the scenes.
Directed by Sumedh Natu, Ab Mujhe Funny Banna Hai addresses, among other things, competition between stand-up comics, writing jokes for particular sets of audiences, and the difference between something in a funny manner and saying something that is inherently funny – all from Mehta’s perspective.
