Elephants at the Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh were in for a week of pampering and frolic during a week-long picnic organised for them by officials.
At this annual extravaganza the animals were treated to massages and a special feast (video above). According to ANI, it was aimed at giving the elephants an opportunity to spend quality family time.
The special treat consisted of, among other things, coconut, apples and bananas. The real reason for the annual picnic, however, is to make sure that the elephants are hale and hearty. “It’s like a health camp for their medical check-up,” a range officer of the national park said.
