The father, his daughter and their dog were at home when smoke started coming out of the scooter, accompanied by loud sounds. The man tried to disconnect the charger, and then grabbed his daughter and dog and fled seconds before the vehicle exploded. The entire incident was caught on surveillance cameras installed in the house.
According to the South China Morning Post the scooter had been bought by Zhao, the wife of the man in the video, online two weeks earlier.
