Somewhere in Xuancheng, China, a father and son are heaving sighs of relief after narrowly escaped injuries or even death during a visit to a mall.

A horrifying video (above) of their experience was posted on Facebook by Shanghaiist – depicting moments that look straight out of a Final Destination film. The video shows the duo stepping off a moving escalator just a split second before before the escalator collapsed.

The video – most likely CCTV footage – was recorded in the Anhui province, at a mall in Xuancheng on July 28. According to Beijing News, the Xuancheng Market Supervision Bureau reported after an inspection that the incident was the result of a key stuck in the elevator’s guide rail.
