Two members of Tamil Nadu’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) were suspended after they were caught on camera assaulting the staff of restaurant on being denied free biryani.
Yuvraj, the secretary of the party’s youth wing, and another member, Dhivakar, another party worker, visited the restaurant in Chennai’s Virugabakkam on July 28 and entered into an argument with the cashier upon being told that it was closed for the day. The altercation soon escalated into blows. The entire incident was caught on CCTVs and the footage was posted on social media. The two of them claimed they were on their way to visit the party chief M Karunanidhi at Kauvery Hospital nearby.
In a statement, J Anbazhagan, the General Secretary of the DMK said, “Since Yuvraj and Dhivakar behaved in a manner that is not in line with the party discipline and brings disrepute to the party, they are suspended from the basic membership of the party.”
