It is apparently a refusal to be “tied down” that has prevented Hema Malini, the BJP member of the Lok Sabha from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, from becoming the chief minister. ‘I could be CM in a minute,’ she said, without specifying the state.
Malini also lavished praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the short interview on camera, claiming that he must be nurtured and listened to.
Malini stood for election for the first time in 2014, after having been a nominated member of the Rahya Sabha from 2003 to 2009.
