A hilarious parody by UnErase Poetry and Hindi poet Ashwani Avi has satirised India’s clingy love for the English language, and how much the country worships those who speak it well. Titled Jai English Mata (Hail Mother English) it takes the worshipping aspect quite literally.
The number – ironically, in Hindi – puts a spin on the tune of the traditional Hindu devotional song Om Jai Jagdish Hare.
And look who reposted the video – but was it because he features in it, or in spite of it?
