After the ice bucket challenge, planking, the banana-sprite challenge and other mindless ways that people use their spare time to break the internet with, here's a new one. No, we're not looking at you, Pokémon Go.
This one's called 100 layers, and it's exactly what its name suggests. People attempt to put 100 layers of something on their bodies: clothes, makeup and so on. (Why? Don't ask.)
It all began with 100 layers of foundation, inspired by a Swedish vlogger's 100 coats of mascara video (above) going viral and getting millions of views. Since then, dozens of videos of people attempting the challenge have made their way to YouTube.
There are people applying fake tan on their bodies. There are people wearing 100 pairs of underwear. Most fail and give up along the way. Here are a few attempts at the 100-layer challenge.
As Jeely observes in her 100 layers of foundations video, " I just put on 100 layers of foundation...what am I doing with my life?".
Not everyone on social media was a fan of this trend.
Just to lend a little levity to the situation: Here's John Oliver on fashion (because that's what popped up in our recommended videos after watching so many makeup and fashion videos).
