When they said the revolution would be televised, they obviously meant it very seriously. The fifth attempt at a coup in Turkey on Friday – after the four in 1960, 1971, 1980 and 1993 – has served up several videos. Including the one above, which CNN Turk livestreamed on Facebook.

At least 60 people were killed in the failed coup on Friday. Turkey President Erdogan said "the government is in control," to a crowd of supporters, according to CNN. However, he was speaking from Istanbul, while the coup began in the capital Ankara.


In the video below, people in the streets are being confronted by the Turkish military as gunshots can be heard.

This one has a CNN foreign correspondent explaining that they were in lockdown mode. She says she can hear the sound of bombs and fighter jets near Istanbul's Bosphorus bridge.
