The curfew in parts of Kashmir continued following the protests over the killing of Hizbul commander, Burhan Wani, by Indian security forces. The death toll has risen to 34 according to a report in the Times of India, with the numbers of the injured climbing past the 1,000 mark.
The intensity of violence in the state has led to hospitals working in a state of emergency.
The video above by Video Volunteers shows some graphic footage from inside Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital. Pellet guns have caused grievous and irreversible injuries.
A report in the Indian Express says, quoting a doctor, that the use of pellet guns by the police is “unprecedented”.
