Earlier in 2016, several new schools of wizarding were announced on JK Rowling's harry Potter website Pottermore. A school each in Brazil, Uganda, and Japan, and one in North America. While the original Harry Potter books suggested there was a school on every continent, the Harry Potter books had so far revealed only the British Hogwarts, the French Beauxbatons, and the Scandinavian Durmstrang Institute.

Now, in anticipation of the movie version of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, spun off from the Harry Potter universe and set in New York, Pottermore has recently released JK Rowling’s piece on the North American Ilvermony school of witchcraft and wizardry.

The story is accompanied with the video above, a teaser for that story, to “whet your appetite”. It is, naturally, a tale of the regular threesome of loyalty, revenge and love that we are such suckers for.

The video reveals the main character, an Irish girl Isolt Sayre. Sayre sets up Ilvermony along with her muggle (no-wag in America) husband. The story also reveals the four houses named after magical creatures – Horned Serpent, a “great horned river serpent with a jewel set into its forehead”; Wampus, a “magical, panther-like creature that is fast, strong and almost impossible to kill;” Thunderbird, a creature that “can create storms as it flies;” and Pukwudgie, a “short, grey-faced, large-eared creature.”

Notably the houses don't mirror the houses at Hogwarts, especially Slytherin. You can find out which of these houses suits you best via this sorting quiz.
