Neither the rhino nor the three elephants in the video above may have been expecting to do what they were made to do.
The rhinoceros had wandered into the village of Sonitpur in Assam and was causing damage in the area. The forest department made several attempts to ward off the animal, all of which failed.
It was then that they brought in three elephants to perform an escorting act. Which they successfully accomplished, ushered the rhinoceros back into the woods as the villagers watched the ongoing spectacle.
There have been prior instances of wild animals venturing into human settlements. With human habitation encroaching on forests, animals have sometimes returned to the location of their original homes only to discover it now occupied by people.
This video from February 2016 shows an elephant venturing into the city of Siliguri in West Bengal, leaving a trail of damage and destruction.
