Late on Tuesday night, a co-ordinated terror attack struck Istanbul’s Ataturk International airport. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said three suicide bombers were involved in the event and that there were indications that it was carried out by the Islamic State.
Two videos circulating on social media allegedly show two of the three explosions. The video above shows CCTV footage of people fleeing an explosion.
In the one below, one of the terrorists appears to be seen felled by a police bullet before blowing himself up.
Reuters reported, quoting witnesses and officials, that one of the attackers opened fire in the departures hall with an automatic rifle, sending passengers diving for cover and fleeing, before all three blew themselves up in or around the arrivals hall a floor below.
Turkey is part of the US-led coalition against the Islamic State. This latest attack is the sixth incident of bombing in the country in 2016.
