Is the future here? Can animals and machines finally come together? Perhaps not, but Tommy, a three-year-old dog, has been roaming the streets of Mysore in Karnataka with the help of a wheel cart that has helped him walk again after an accident in March caused him to lose sensation in his hind legs.
The wheel cart was designed by Dr Madan Kompal, a veterinarian.
Post his accident, Tommy had “started defecating, urinating in the same spot where he was sleeping,” said Dr Kompal. “So, that leads to bed sores.”
The wheel cart can be fitted to dogs of various sizes. The height of the cart and the attached ball bearings suspend the dog's injured hind legs help him move smoothly over uneven roads.
