A massive fire broke out in Metro House building on Colaba Causeway in Mumbai on Thursday afternoon. Two people were rescued from the building, and ten fire engines and all police officials from nearby areas were rushed to the spot. The fire began at around 4pm and spread from the upper floors of the building.
Colaba Causeway is near the Gateway of India and is often crowded as it as a popular street shopping destination.

This incident follows the fire that engulfed the Adharwadi dumping ground in Kalyan. It took 14 fire engines, 12 water tankers and seven hours to contain that blaze. In 2013, a massive fire had broken out in the Cuffe Parade area near Colaba.
