A series of cloudbursts struck Uttarakhand’s Tehri district on Saturday, triggering heavy rains and mud slides in the region. The video above shows the extent of the damage. Roads and bridges have collapsed and houses swept away in the deluge. The heavy rainfall has also disrupted the Char Dhaam yatra, with many pilgrims to the Kedarnath shrine stranded in the state.

Cloudbursts in the state in 2013 had caused massive flooding and landslides, leading to over 5,000 deaths.

On Saturday, around 50 houses in Kothiara village came under loads of debris, the Indian Express reported. Six people are also reported dead in the deluge.

An alert for heavy rainfall on Monday has been issued for the hill districts of Champavat, Almora, Nainital, Tehri and Pauri.

The disaster-prone hill state is currently recovering from massive forest fires which destroyed nearly 4000 hectares of land.
