After the heartache of Hello and its outdated flip-phone, Adele’s now singing about not being “kids no more”. The video, which was released at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, is minimalistic and builds with layer upon layer of Adele performing against a black backdrop, creating a slightly trippy effect.
The video has been directed by Patrick Daughters and, predictably, crossed a million views on its very first day. This is the third offering from Adele’s new album 25. Here she sings about letting go, and asks her ex lover to treat his new lover better. Modern love, right?
A more dance-worthy track than the last two in the album — Hello and When We Were Young – the song even features Adele dancing, possibly for the first time in a music video.
The British singer is in the news for scoring a record deal with Sony Music worth a reported £90 million (around $130 million), according to The Sun. The report added, “It is also the most valuable for a woman, eclipsing Whitney Houston’s £70million from Arista in 2001.”
