The discovery of an ancient mummy in Mongolia earlier in April has had people speculating about time travel. While archaeologists were happy at the discovery of what is believed to be the first complete Turkik burial ever found in Mongolia, others found the mummy’s shoes more interesting.
This is because of their similarity to Adidas shoes, with their trademark three striped logo.
The ancient and well-preserved mummy was discovered in Mongolia's Altai Mountains. RT reported, “Alongside the ice-preserved body, a number of artefacts including an iron kettle, pillows, cotton coats, and a sacrificed horse were found in what is believed to be an ancient Turkik burial site.”
Researcher B Sukhbaatar told the Siberian Times that the grave is a “rare phenomenon”.
“It is the first complete Turkik burial at least in Mongolia – and probably in all Central Asia… These finds show us the beliefs and rituals of Turkiks.”
“This person was not from elite, and we believe it was likely a woman, because there is no bow in the tomb. Now we are carefully unwrapping the body and once this is complete the specialists will be able to say more precisely about the gender,” he said.
The time travel stories, though, continued to rule.
There were jokes about Doctor Who, the space and time travelling humanoid alien from the BBC's science fiction series.
Some jokes about the conspiracy theory:
But some were sceptical, with good reason:
