It’s North Korea vs the US again, albeit the "North Korea wishes" version. The imaginary battle plays out in the video above, and ends as Pyongyang would like, with Washington destroyed. Menacingly titled Last Chance, it shows a submarine-launched nuclear missile laying to waste Washington, with a special focus on the White House, and ends with the US flag in flames.
The four-minute video, published by North Korea’s propaganda website DPRK Today, begins by running through images of the history of US-Korean relations. “Images from the Korean war, capture of US spy ship Pueblo in 1968 and the first crisis over North Korea’s nuclear programme in the early 1990s,” AFP reported.
Tensions have been soaring on the divided Korean peninsula since the North carried out its fourth nuclear test on January 6, 2016 followed a month later by a long-range rocket launch that was widely seen as a disguised ballistic missile test.
Angered by ongoing large-scale South Korea-US military drills, Pyongyang has ramped up the rhetoric in recent weeks, maintaining a daily barrage of threats against both Seoul and Washington, Business Standard reported.
