Despite snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against Bangladesh in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni seemed unnecessarily cranky.
At the post match press conference, a journalist asked him a question that was not completely audible, but was on the lines of: "There was talk about winning this match comprehensively and boosting the net run rate. That did not happen and India managed to escape with a win in a match they almost lost. How satisfied are you with the victory?" (Video above from 23.15 onward)
Turns out "Captain Cool" wasn't so...cool. Here's what he snapped back.
"Mujhe pata hai aapko khushi nahi hui hai ki India jeet gaya. Aapki awaz se, aapki tone se, aapki sawaal se aisa lag raha hai ki aapko khushi nahi aaye ki India jeet gaya aaj. (I know that you are not happy that India has won today. Your voice, your tone, your question – all of these indicate you are not happy that India has won today.)"
Phew. Was that kind of an outburst really necessary to a question which was not very far away from the truth?
