Vijender Singh is on a roll. The burly 30-year old from Haryana won his fourth consecutive bout on the professional boxing world, easily sweeping past his Hungarian opponent Alexander Horvath in three rounds on Saturday.

Singh has been in some form lately, giving an emphatic reply to critics' misgivings about whether he would be able to adjust to life in the professional world after retiring from amateur boxing. The build-up to the match against Horvath was enlivened when his Hungarian opponent claimed that he drank snake blood to make him "powerful beyond words".

However, Singh laughed it off before the match by saying, "Main use itna maarunga ki saara saanp ka khoon nikal jaayega (I will hit him so much that all the snake blood will come out)," and then demonstrated during the bout what he thought of Horvath. He was careful at the start, wearing out Horvath's flurry of punches before landing two powerful one-twos just before the first round came to an end.

Horvath was winded, aimlessly flailing away in the second round while Singh was far more accurate, landing some telling blows. Finally, in the third round, Singh dealt a powerful blow and then a nudge, sending Horvath to his knees. The Hungarian refused to carry on, leaving Singh the victor by knock-out.

This sets up things nicely for Singh. Haryana's favourite son will be coming back to India in July to compete for the World Boxing Organisation Asia title.
