It has been more than a year since a low-intensity bomb was placed outside a popular restaurant on Church Street in Bengaluru, killing one person and injuring three others. City police spent thousands of hours attempting to investigate the case of the bombing on December 28, 2014 and came up with few leads, forcing them to hand over the matter to the National Investigation Agency.

The NIA has now put out footage taken around 7 pm at Church Street on the day of the blast. The agency says that the person highlighted in the video is suspected to have been involved in the blast, and is offering a Rs 5 lakh reward for anyone who can help identify the person.

The footage shows what appears to be a young man with a lightly coloured baseball cap, a scarf or a bandanna, a bag on his shoulder and a plastic packet in his hand. The NIA had mapped out the cameras around the neighbourhood and reportedly concluded that the suspect walked around Church Street three times before planting the bomb.

Officials initially suspected members of SIMI, a banned organisation, since the bombs themselves bore similarity to bombs that had been planted in other cities. But the motivation for the blast continues to baffle investigators because it was neither planted on Christmas Day nor on New Year's Eve, when its impact would have been much more.
