Twenty-two year old Hardik Pandya celebrated his call-up to the Indian Twenty20 team for the upcoming series against Australia by smashing 34 runs in one over against Delhi medium-pacer Akash Sudan in a domestic Twenty20 game in Vadodara on Sunday.
Pandya was representing Baroda, who were playing Delhi in the last Group C game of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Baroda were in the penultimate over of the first innings when Pandya took a special liking for Sudan, hitting him for five sixes and a boundary in the over.
The first ball was hit over long-on for a six while the second went for four byes. The third was a slower one, smashed over the cow-corner for another six. Sudan's over became worse as he overstepped on the next ball and was hit for a third six. The final two deliveries went for a boundary and yet another six.
The over yielded a massive 39 runs, with Pandya scoring 34 of them. This was the record for the most runs scored in an over in Twenty20 cricket.
