Who doesn't need someone to have a drink with?
In his poem A Drinking Song, WB Yeats wrote:
Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That’s all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.
He may never have imagined this could be said for a robot.
South Korean inventor Park Eun Chan, working with his wife, has created the world’s first robot drinking buddy, called what else but Drinky. In the video above Drinky can be seen clinking glasses with his companions and downing his drink.
The very cute robot, beanie and all, lights up after a glass. Where does the liquor go, though, if not to his head?
Actually, the lower half of the robot's body is a jar in which the alcohol is collected. So you can just empty it and let him drink it again. Or drink it yourself.
He looks you straight in the face, listening to your woes and reportedly responds to your actions and words too. There are robotic bartenders already but they lack Drinky's warmth.
