Remember this video of a man playing John Lennon's Imagine on a piano outside the Bataclan theatre after the November 13 terror attacks in Paris?
Now Penn Masala, an acappella group of American musicians of Indian origin, from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, have gone a step further with this seamless mash up of Imagine with the old Hindi hymn Humko man ki shakti dena.
The band released the video for the song on their Facebook page, along with the message: "In light of the tragedies that have been occurring across the world over the past months, we wanted to compose a song commemorating the hope and resilience that exists within us all. We hope you join us in extending our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the victims of shootings, floods, and terror that have been abound in our world. Please share with your loved ones if you enjoyed this tribute."
"Through strength and love may we all find peace," it ends.
The band takes its name from its alma mater. Formed originally in 1996, the members are constantly renewed with graduating students leaving and making way for new entrants. The 12-member band is about to release its newest album Resonance.
The group's video on the evolution of Bollywood music had become an Internet sensation after its release in March 2014.
