Here comes another ad war and this time, it’s not between the two cricket rival countries, India and Pakistan, but between India and Bangladesh. The underdog of world cricket, Bangladesh has over the past few months won series against both India and Pakistan. After the team's vicotry on Sunday, Bangladeshi supporters came out with bamboo sticks in their hands and howled the night out over the landmark victory.
But what’s the significance of bamboo here? It comes from the latest ad by a local Bangladesh cola company that has gone viral. According to the ad-makers, this ‘Bamboo is on’ ad is apparently a befitting reply to the Star Sports 'Bachha Hai Tu' (You're just a Kid) ad in which the Bangladesh team is shown as a little kid who trying to play with the big boys.
In the Bamboo ad, an Indian Bengali guy is seen striking a conversation with a Pakistani guy. He mocks him for Pakistan’s 3-0 loss to Bangladesh in April this year. He continues to poke fun till the Pakistani guy gets offended and hands him a bamboo and ask him to wait till India faces such humiliating loss. This ad had gone so viral that Bangladeshi fans celebrated their victory with bamboos in their hands in Dhaka and Mirpur.
