Last week, Myntra launched an ad depicting a young lesbian couple, ready to introduce each other to their parents. The video has been viewed by lakhs of users and is being cited as the first Indian ad that explicitly acknowledges a lesbian relationship. While it is still very unusual to make any reference to same-sex relationships in Indian commercial's, Myntra’s isn’t actually the first. A year ago, Fastrack, a company that sells watches and bags among other things, covered the same sort of ground with their tagline even directly referencing “coming out of the closet”.
