The results for India's highly competitive civil service exams are in, with women taking home the first four spots. Delhi's Ira Singhal turned out to be the overall topper in the exam that was taken by more than 4.5 lakh candidates, all hoping to grab one of just 1,364 open spots. The United Public Service Commission exam sends candidates to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service, India's "steel frame", and the Indian Police Service.

But for all the success of women at the top of the ladder in the steel frame, it does happen to be overwhemingly male even now. Based on data from last year, the IAS still only has three women for every 20 male officers.
