Indian-American achievers usually tend to be associated with the sciences. Not Aziz Ansari. Born to Tamil parents and brought up in the US, he is currently No. 6 on the Forbes list of the world's highest-paid comedians, with earnings of $9.5 million.

And now, the Parks and Recreation star has a new show, Master of None, premiering in November 2015.

Ansari, who started out as a stand-up comedian while still studying at New York University, moved gradually into acting. His big break came with the sitcom Parks and Recreation, where he plays Tom Haverford, an "inept ladies’ man... surreally confident of his position atop the social hierarchy."

In June 2015 Ansari also turned author with the release of his book Modern Dating, comprising advice on modern-day dating, which he co-wrote with sociologist Eric Klinenberg.

Responding to a question on Twitter on how Master of None, which he co-wrote and co-produced, will be different from the BBC's Kumars at No.42 Ansari replied, "Less Indians, Less British accents." In a similar vein, his response to its differences from Slumdog Millionaire, was, "More Asians, Black People."

The show appears semi-autobiographical, and is raking up positive vibes following the release of the trailer. Aziz plays Dev Shah, an actor in New York navigating career and love.

The clip below is from Comedy Central's Roast of James Franco where Ansari takes down the rest of the comedians for their stereotypical Indian jokes.

His character on Parks and Recreation is reminiscent of Johnny Bravo, narcissistic and somehow affable.
