The makers of Vijay Krishna Acharya’s magnum opus Thugs of Hindostan released a poster on Tuesday introducing the character of Khudabaksh, played by Amitabh Bachchan. Dressed as a warrior and wielding a sword, Bachchan’s Khudabaksh is seen standing next to a cannon on a ship. An eagle keeps him company. Actor Aamir Khan, who also stars in the film, described Khudabaksh on Twitter as “the biggest thug of all”.

Based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel Confessions of a Thug, Thugs of Hindostan also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh. Set in the late 18th century and spanning up to the early 19th century, the novel is a tale of crime and revenge. The novel’s protagonist is Ameer Ali, a Pathan adopted and raised by a thug. Aamir Khan will reportedly play Ali in the Hindi adaptation.

The big-budget production has been produced by Yash Raj Films and will be released on November 8.
