“There is the Cooum river on one side and garbage on the other: is this even a city?” Tamil YouTube personality Raj Mohan remarks about Chennai in Oorada Ithu, a tribute to the South Indian city released to mark Madras Day (August 22).
The four-minute video, produced by Skycinemas, points out the many downsides of the Tamil Nadu capital, such as the towering auto prices and polluted rivers. However, through visuals of Chennai’s landmarks, such as the Central Railway Station and Anna flyover, Oorada Ithu also sings praises of the city’s tenacity. “Chennai is like a big ocean. You can either drown in it or pick pearls from it. It is in your hands,” the video concludes.
