Kangana Ranaut looks ferocious and powerful as Rani Laxmibai in the poster of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. Riding on a horse with a swaddled baby tied to her back and a scabbard on her side, she is holding a sword aloft while she charges onto a battlefield. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi will be released on January 25, 2019.
The film’s teaser will be released on October 2 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, while the trailer will be released on November 19, which is the birth anniversary of the nineteenth-century warrior queen.
Directed by Krish and produced by Zee Studios, the biopic traces the life of Laxmibai of Jhansi. The cast includes Jisshu Sengupta, Atul Kulkarni, Sonu Sood, Suresh Oberoi and Ankita Lokhande. Manikarnika has been written by Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad.
Krish has previously directed several Telugu films including Gamyam (2008), Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (2012) and Kanche (2015). His first Hindi film was Gabbar Is Back (2015). Earlier this year, Krish also appeared in Mahanati, the Telugu biopic on Southern star Savitri.
