The trailer for Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, released on Friday, shows Shahid Kapoor suiting up as a lawyer to fight a corrupt electricity company that overcharges people for its services. “You sent a bill of Rs 54 lakh right?” Shahid Kapoor’s character thunders. “Now, the lights will go off in your electricity company in 54 days.”
Shraddha Kapoor plays the love interest of Shahid Kapoor’s character. Divyendu Sharma plays the hero’s best friend, who is put into a tough spot by the rogue electricity company. Yami Gautam plays a lawyer who is the rival to Shahid Kapoor’s character.
Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been written by Siddharth-Garima, who also worked on Singh’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017). The screenplay is based on the story Roshni, by Rustom writer Vipul Rawal. The T-Series production will be released on September 21.
