Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka Chopra in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Salman Khan-starrer Bharat, Mumbai Mirror reported. “I am extremely excited to work with Katrina and Salman again,” Zafar told the newspaper.
Zafar has previously directed Kaif in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017). The latter production, also starring Khan, is one of the biggest hits in the actress’s career.
Bharat was supposed to have been Priyanka Chopra’s comeback to Hindi cinema after her stint in Hollywood. She walked out of the project last week, allegedly because of her reported engagement to Nick Jonas, the American singer.
Scripted by Zafar and Varun V Sharma, Bharat is the official remake of the South Korean film Ode to My Father (2014), and will revolve around India’s history as seen through the life of one man. Bharat is scheduled to be released during the Eid weekend in 2019. The cast includes Disha Patani, Tabu, Sunil Grover and Kumud Mishra.
