A Muslim family is forced to prove its loyalty to India in the face of institutionalised Islamophobia in Anubhav Sinha’s Mulk. The Benaras MediaWorks and Soham Rockstar Entertainment production is based on true events, the trailer released on Monday said.
After Shahid Mohammed (Prateik Babbar) is found to be involved in a terror attack, his family members are hounded by the police, and painted as terrorists. Lawyer Aarti Mohammed (Taapsee Pannu) steps in, determined to clear the name of the embattled family, especially that of Shahid’s father Murad Ali (Rishi Kapoor). The ensemble cast also includes Neena Gupta, Ashutosh Rana, Manoj Pahwa, Prachee Shah Paaandya and Rajat Kapoor.
Mulk will be released on August 3.
