The year begins with two Hollywood films, while Bollywood gets back into business from December 8.
Point Break Kathryn Bigelow’s cult hit from 1990 gets a reboot with a baggy resemblance to the original and more elaborately choreographed action. Point Break has also been dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, and its unique selling proposition is its heart-stopping action. The movie, directed by Ericson Core, stars Edgar Ramirez (Carlos) and Luke Bracey (The November Man) in the roles made iconic by Patrick Swayze and Keane Reeves, respectively. Ramirez plays Bodhi, the charismatic head of a cult that might be involved in a series of daring heists. Bracey is Utah, the government agent who infiltrates Bodhi’s group but comes uncomfortably close to identifying with Bodhi’s goals.
Monster Hunt One of China’s biggest domestic hits, Monster Hunt has been described as a Shrek-style adventure. Wuba is a camera-friendly half-monster and half-human who is targetted as part of a campaign to weed out undesirables in medieval China.
