Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another will go to-to-toe at the Oscars this year. Sinners was nominated in a record 16 categories and One Battle after Another in 13, followed by Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme in nine categories each. Chloe Zhao’s Hamnet scored eight nominations.

Nominations across 24 categories for films made in 2025 were announced on Thursday in Los Angeles. The 98th Oscars will be held on March 15. The host is Conan O’Brien.

Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound didn’t make it to the International Feature category. Indian-origin director Geeta Gandhbir scored two nominations – for her documentary The Perfect Neighbor and for co-directing the short documentary The Devil Is Busy.
