One of 2024’s biggest hits in terms of a thumping return on a low investment was Aditya Sarpotdar’s Munjya. Starring Abhay Verma and Sharvari, the film explores a young man’s efforts to rid himself of a lecherous demon. Sarpotdar has some experience in horror, having made Zombivli (zombies rampage through Dombivali city) and Kakuda (a goblin preys on men).
Thamma is part of producer Maddock Films’ horror comedy universe, comprising Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya and Munjya. Thamma stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in key roles. The teaser suggests a love story through the ages between Alok (Khurrana) and Tadaka (Mandanna) that is disrupted by the vampire Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui).
The cast includes Paresh Rawal. The script is by Niren Bhatt, Arun Fulara and Suresh Mathew. The music is by Sachin Jigar. Thamma will be out in cinemas on October 17.
