Mohan Delkar, an Independent MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, was found dead at a hotel in Mumbai’s Marine Drive area on Monday, NDTV reported. He was 58 and is survived by his wife and two children, according to The Outlook.
Mumbai Police Spokesperson Chaitanya S told ANI that a suicide note was found at the spot. However, the police have not yet confirmed that the MP died by suicide and was investigating the matter. Delkar’s body, which was found at the Sea Green Hotel, according to India Today, was sent for postmortem.
Delkar was the Congress president of Dadra and Nagar Haveli when he quit the party in 2019 to contest the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate. He had represented Dadra and Nagar Haveli in Parliament since 2004. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice and also that of the Consultative Committee of the home ministry, according to NDTV.
