Two Army soldiers were killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with suspected infiltrators from Pakistan along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, PTI reported. The infiltrators were reportedly stopped as they attempted to enter India from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
“Two army soldiers martyred during cordon-and-search operation in Nowshera sector,” Jammu-based Indian Army Public Relations Officer (PRO) Lt Col Devender Anand said in a statement.
The search operation was initiated after officials received inputs about the movement of suspected militants, unidentified officials said. The suspected infiltrators allegedly opened fire on the soldiers that led to the gun battle. Officials claimed that a huge operation was still under way.
More details are awaited.
