The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed concern over the fate of 15 miners who have been trapped in a rat hole mine in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district since December 13. The court said it was not satisfied with the operations and asked why the Army had not been asked to join in to rescue the miners.
The police on Wednesday night took into custody Yogesh Raj, who is the main accused in the violence that took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr in December after an alleged incident of cow slaughter. Police officer Subodh Kumar Singh and a 20-year-old man were killed in the violence on December 3.
Jammu and Kashmir: One soldier killed and another injured in Poonch avalanche
A soldier died and another was injured on Thursday morning after an avalanche hit an Army post in Sawjian sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, PTI reported. The deceased soldier was identified as Lance Naik Sapan Mehra of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. Sepoy Harpreet Singh of Punjab was taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.

Madras High Court stays ban on online sale of medicines
