Indian markets advanced on Wednesday, led by gains in information technology stocks Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys, Mint reported. Positive cues from global markets ahead of meetings of the G-20 and the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries also helped the markets. The BSE Sensex closed 203.81 points up at 35,716.95. The National Stock Exchange Nifty ended 43.25 points ahead at 10,728.85.
The biggest gainers on the Sensex were Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Reliance and ICICI Bank. The top losers were Yes Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, ONGC and Larsen and Toubro.
On the Nifty, the stocks which gained the most were Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Zee Entertainment, Reliance and IndusInd Bank. On the other hand, stocks of Yes Bank, Bharat Petroleum, Bharti Airtel, Indian Oil Corp and GAIL declined the most.
The Indian rupee was trading at 70.68 against the United States dollar when the markets closed.
