A trainer aircraft crashed in the fields near Mokila village near Shankarapalli in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district around 11.30 am on Wednesday, ANI reported. The pilot, identified as 30-year-old Bharat Bhushan, is being treated for minor injuries, reports said.
Bhushan, who is a trainee pilot, reportedly jumped out of the aircraft when it was about 400 metres above the ground, The Hindu reported.
The Cessna aircraft belongs to the Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy in Hyderabad, reported Telangana Today. “He suffered a minor eye injury and has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad Zone) N Prakash Reddy told The Hindu.
The police have not registered a case in the matter yet. “We are not sure what happened to the flight,” Shankarapally Circle Inspector N Lingaiah told The News Minute. “We suspect that the aircraft developed some technical snag. A major accident was averted as the flight landed in a field when no one was around.” Lingaiah said the police were in touch with the aviation academy.
