Maharashtra: Two tiger cubs die after being hit by train in Chandrapur
Two tiger cubs died after being hit by a train in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Thursday. Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra General Manager Rishikesh Ranjan said the cubs, around six months old, died immediately after the Balharshah-Gondia passenger train hit them.

Rupee continues to strengthen, Sensex and Nifty 50 close with gains as crude oil prices decline
The rupee strengthened against the dollar for the third consecutive session on Thursday on the back of a decline in crude oil prices and taking cues from gains in other Asian currencies. The rupee closed at 71.98 against the dollar, 33 paise higher since close on Wednesday.

Hospitality start-up OYO Hotel on Thursday appointed Aditya Ghosh as the chief executive officer of its India and South Asia operations. Ghosh had stepped down as president of private airline IndiGo on July 31. Ghosh will take over his responsibilities from December 31.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Thursday suspended its leader Ankiv Baisoya from the organisation and asked him to step down as the Delhi University Students’ Union president in connection with his alleged fake marksheet. The organisation, which is affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said the decision would be in effect until an inquiry into the authenticity of his university degree is completed.

Delhi: Fashion designer and domestic worker found dead, three people arrested
The Delhi Police have arrested three people for allegedly murdering a 53-year-old fashion designer and her domestic worker at a farmhouse in South Delhi’s Vasant Kunj on Wednesday night. The woman has been identified as Mala Lakhani and the worker as 50-year-old Bahadur. A tailor at Lakhani’s workshop is among the people arrested.

Tamil Nadu: Cyclone Gaja set to make landfall in the evening, schools in six districts closed
Cyclonic storm Gaja over the Bay of Bengal is set to make landfall between Cuddalore and Pamban in Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening. The state government has kept 30,500 rescue personnel on standby, while district collectors of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukottai, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore and Ramanathapuram have asked schools and colleges not to open. Two naval ships are on standby to help with evacuation, medical aid and relief efforts.
