Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that one militant was killed in a shootout in Handwara, Kupwara district. The militant has not been identified yet.
An encounter broke out after the militants allegedly attacked a police post in Handwara, ANI reported. Arms and ammunition were seized from the spot.
On Saturday, an Army soldier was killed and two Border Security Force personnel were injured in separate incidents in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Army rifleman Varun Kattal was killed in a sniper attack after an alleged ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control. Hours after the incident in Sunderbani, two Border Security Force personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with Pakistani forces along the Line of Control in Rajouri district
Separately, two suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Tikken area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
