The Congress on Tuesday denied reports that claimed Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken had resigned from his post because of health problems, ANI reported. The 54-year-old former Union minister, who has led the party in the national Capital since 2015, has gone abroad for a medical checkup and will be back soon, the party said.
Maken, who replaced Arvinder Singh Lovely as Delhi Congress chief, had submitted his resignation after the party did not perform well in last year’s civic polls. The party leadership, however, insisted that he continue.
Maken was appointed Delhi Assembly speaker in 2004. He replaced MS Gill as the minister for sports and youth affairs in 2011.
